Works for both 1 2 inch and 5 8 inch rods it sure beats swinging a sledge hammer. This can cause the top of the rod to mushroom thereby also making it difficult to place a standard 5 8 ground rod clamp. The hammer drill or rotary hammer makes driving an 8 foot copper ground rod easy and fast. Make sure you put the drill in hammer only no rotary action and your are set to go.
